Price, credibility, or convenience?

What's the best balance?

For price, the biggest deciding factor is format. Is it online or in-class? For online courses, the price ranges from $0 to $400. Sometimes even more, but rarely. In-class courses can range from $500- to $1,500. As some courses offer more than just a certificate but also accommodation and guided tours, and even meals.

Credibility is closely connected to price for the most part. It's not always true that the more expensive courses are more credible, but generally speaking it is true. Keep in mind, there is no single TEFL accrediting body that can guarantee a quality certificate. One way to ensure higher credibility is to a course which has a practicum aspect.

Convenience depends mostly on format. Online Certificates are more flexible as you can usually finish them at your won pace and from the comfort of your home. Having said that, this may come at the cost of credibility.
